IARPA Director Coming to Campus to Discuss Research Opportunities

Researchers interested in learning more about research opportunities relevant to U.S. intelligence have an opportunity to connect with Catherine Marsh, director of federal Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity (IARPA) in the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI), and her leadership team, on Thursday, March 30 at 3 PM.

IARPA leads research on problems relevant to the US Intelligence community, funding faculty in the natural sciences, engineering and computer science and psychology. Recent programs include detection of aerosolized illicit drugs, leveraging psychology to predict and counter cyber-attacks, and advancing the science in universal fault-tolerant quantum computing. IARPA’s leadership will learn about research performed by Pittsburgh area faculty, postdocs and students, and explore possible new funded programs. To broaden collaboration opportunities, leadership and faculty from Pitt, CMU, Duquesne and Carlow have been invited to the event.

During a keynote address, Dr. Marsh will discuss her path through academia, industry and government. Following that, she and her team will mingle to discuss potential new research efforts and directions. The event then features a Women’s Forum, hosted by Provost Ann Cudd, where a distinguished panel will share their experiences as leaders in technology.
