Pitt Research Offices

Five aligned Pitt Research offices help researchers, scholars, staff, students, and outside partners have access to tools and services intended, and in some cases required, to support their research across the University.

Office of Research Computing

The Office of Research Computing advances computationally driven research by supporting computational facilities and architectures at the cutting edge of advanced computing. Core research areas that partner with the CRC include engineering, chemistry and genomics.

Office of Research Protections

The Office of Research Protections is responsible for the ethical and compliance integrity of the University’s research enterprise. The ORP engages staff and faculty in the oversight of human and animal research subject to regulatory control through an integrated system of research review, audit, and educational programs.

Office of Sponsored Programs

The Office of Sponsored Programs is charged with assisting faculty, staff, and students in their efforts to promote and secure sponsored research funding. The office reviews, negotiates, endorses, and provides administrative oversight related to proposals and awards in accordance with all applicable laws, policies and regulations.

Office of Trade Compliance

The Office of Trade Compliance shares best practices and advice, and provides hands-on assistance for compliance with U.S. export controls regulations. Staff have developed systems and procedures to comply with export control regulations in affected areas.

Office of Innovation and Entrepreneurship

The Office of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, which includes the Innovation Institute, strengthens the culture of innovation and entrepreneurship at Pitt by providing a suite of facilitation and support services for innovators, from protecting intellectual property to the commercialization of new discoveries through licensing and/or new enterprise development. The office also provides government agencies, industry leaders, and economic development organizations with access to the University's resources.
